Painting of a random lady, referenced from pinterest. After trying a few shimmering paint samples from my sister's new taobao loot, I decided to give these paints another chance. I bought them many years back, from workshop held by an online artshop called Arters. The colors were quite dull, and there were some shimmer on the purple paint, which made it a bit hard for me to put in with the others as i tend to be quite messy with my paints. Doodled the girl and thought i might screw up the painting due to less experience with these paints. Turns out it works quite nicely. I used it alongside an old batch of holbein yellows and found that the rhodonite works pretty well to make some skin tones. The blue felt dull at first, but it produced some interesting, antique looking colors. Used the purple shimmering to bring out the starry feeling more.

Waning, another mixed media mishap turned into something new and lovely. With a moon!

Waning, 5″x7″ mixed media on paper This misprint had an alignment issue that made it all sky and no earth. I couldn’t resist painting in the very end of twilight in rich blue and fading violet. The moon is a special iridescent paint that looks white at some angles and lavender at others.
