ANYWAY gibbon fact: the two lar gibbons at the melbourne zoo (my local one) are a scientific anomaly. gibbons are monogamous and mate for life (the only primates that do), but lili and jin don’t conform to this. lili is a widow, she was previously living at the perth zoo, until her mate died. she was then moved to the melbourne zoo and met jin, they courted each other and have been together and utterly in love since 2017!! (pictured: lili, left, jin, right) (lar gibbons are sexually dimorphic and the ladies are always blonde and males are always black)
