So disappointed with Glasgow Pride today, only the 2nd year going as a couple and couldn't even get into the event despite having bought tickets weeks in advance and had already exchanged our tickets for wristbands in advance earlier in the week. Have come back home to chill out now and fingers crossed tomorrow is better and can actually get into the venue. Was good to see all the support and love though, just wish we could've fully been involved if it had been better organised.

So I went to Pride today...
It was great.
Being in the middle of people who were LGBTQ+.
Not feeling like a minority.
Not feeling like an embarrassment or a disappointment.
Yes, it was great for a split second when I think like that.
Until I wore my trans flag around my waist all day and still got referred to as ‘she’ and ‘her’.
I still got called a girl, or a ‘lassie’.
I still found myself having to explain to people that I’m not a ‘girl wanting to be a boy’.
I still had to explain to people that just because I’m a trans guy doesn’t mean I’m attracted to girls.
People still got confused at why I wear makeup.
Pride, for me, was supposed to be the place where I was understood, and I could pass as male. It was the place that I thought I would belong. But honestly I still feel out of place in the world, maybe more.
I guess my problem isn’t with society, it’s my own insercurities. I hate being the person I am when there are so many other trans guys who clearly pass and don’t misgendered. But it’s my fault that I do because I wear makeup.
