The LGBT+ community is so wonderful. Just looking at the pride event website in my country makes me want to cry. There's a BSL interpreter so I can understand everything (I struggle with hearing things when there are a lot of people talking a once, I can lip read, but BSL is so much easier) and there's a quiet space, and I can just be safe, and protected and be a part of this amazing family. I can join the parade with my friends and family without worrying about missing things that the performers are saying. There's going to be live music, which I can hear and understand, but for when the person is speaking there will be interpreters! It's so inclusive! People in wheelchairs (like one of my good friends) can join the parade with me, people who are blind, people who have any disablilty or need. Assistants can come for free! It's so great. To all of my disabled friends out there going to pride, I can only hope that the are as inclusive at your event as they are at mine.
