I NEED to know your thoughtson the last episode and what you think is going to happen between S/T going forward ?
Okay, the first thing I noticed was that Sybil doesn't seem overly angry at Tom for what's happened which means they must have already discussed it and worked it out. Because I can't see her being as accepting of it as she seems in the episode right away. I won't lie, I was a little 'wtf, Tom?' when I heard it. But clearly they've worked it out and she's either forgiven him or they've reached an understanding.
As for the argument in the bedroom, that doesn't worry me. I'd be more surprised if it hadn't happened. Sybil has every right to be upset about Tom not telling her about those meetings and I do think Tom could have been more understanding but he's really not in a good place right then, I can see why he's not in the mood to agree to staying at Downton at that moment.
I mean he's only just been told he can never go back to his homeland, ever, and he's pretty upset about it. He hasn't even had a chance to sleep on it, it would be weird if he wasn't confused and a angry. I think he's in denial a bit at first, he doesn't want to accept that this is it and his child will be born in a house representative of everything he hates.
But I think for Sybil, he'll do it. He needs a bit of time to calm down and look properly at what's happened and I think once he does he'll accept the his wife is right. We already know the baby's born at Downton, I don't think he'll want to raise the child there but I think by next episode he's accepted that it will be born there at least.
However, Allen Leech specifically talked about filming scenes set in Ireland and we didn't see him there this episode and we haven't seen him there before so... I don't know, having two prison-wives seems a bit too much though we know Tom is alive and free in the last episode.
I think they'll have a lot to get through after this and I think they'll both have to make compromises but I think they will eventually reach an agreement that they are both happy with. JBF mentioned they do fight but they're a very open and honest couple (well, in general at least) and it's very clear that they love each other. Relationships aren't about not making mistakes and not fighting, they're about being able to work through them and move on from things like this which I know Sybil and Tom are more than capable of doing. It may not be easy but neither of them are the type for giving up.
I have more thoughts but I also have a massive assignment due tomorrow (yay. not.) I have a theory about why Tom may be back in Ireland but I'll have to post it later.
