WARNING!!! Do not read any further if you are: senstive, homophobic, a bigot, hipocrite, afraid of any ethnic groups that you are not a part of. If you are any of the following, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
The following few posts are going to be in light of what seems to happening in the world around us. I cannot stand back anymore. If you don’t like it, not my problem. This is who I am, how I feel and I can’t hold it in anymore. This is my blog and I will be damned if someone is going to tell me how to run it.
So without futher ado, you are probably wondering why in heaven’s name I have a pic of UB40′s Best of album above. I will tell you why.
UB40 wrote a song called One In Ten which they wrote about the statiscics of the unemployed in the UK at the time the song was realeased back in 1980.
I see this song as a reminder of the people who are seen as part of the minority groups.
With what has been happening to the Muslims in any Islamic country, the refugees that need our help, are being seen as the people who bombed the US. I have heard too many people say that we should just go in and bomb the whole country and get rid of them all.
It sickens me that people live with that in mind. Let’s kill the people who are running for their lives in their own country because they are being threatened by their own countrymen.
Guess what? My best friend was born in Calutta, India. She is 5′0, black hair and could probably out shoot, out run and knock you right off your feet cause she is an ex-boxer. She would give you the skin off her back if she could. A single mom who loves her son more than anything in the world. and she is my best friend. and it offends me when i heard all the racist comments from people who think that my best friend and her ‘people’ are terrorists. Oh yeah that’s right! My friend who drives her dinky toyota with kid in tow is gonna come after you all!!!! Is that before she tries to make a living to keep a roof over her head or after she puts her son down for a nap?
It kills me that people think that any Muslim is a terrorist. Or any German is a Natzi skinhead. etc, etc. When people say these things I take offence because
no one stops to think who it might offend. i am constantly watching what I say around people cause I am worried I might offend someone without knowing it. So I feel like I am making so many apologies. I am not saying sorry anymore. I am through with the hate and violence. And yes, I am a one in ten. Only select people might know what this is in reference to. I hope in someway that maybe this song or something else might penetrate and get people to open their eyes. Stop hating so much. Too much energy to waste in hate.
I am a one in ten
A number on a list
I am a one in ten
Even though I don't exist
Nobody knows me
But I'm always there
Statistical reminder of a world that doesn't care
My arms enfold the dole queue
Malnutrition dulls my hair
My eyes are black and lifeless
With an underprivileged stare
I'm the beggar on the corner
Will no one spare a dime
I'm the child that never learns to read
Because no one spared the time
I am a one in ten
A number on a list
I am a one in ten
Even though I don't exist
Nobody knows me
But I'm always there
Statistical reminder of a world that doesn't care
I'm the murderer and the victim
The license with the gun
I'm a sad and bruised old lady
In an ally in a slum
I'm a middle aged businessman
With chronic heart disease
I'm another teenage suicide
In a street that has no trees
