Demands of the on going war were taking their toll on all sides. Albert believed it was turning into a battle of wills as the summer began. The invasion of his own Solomon Islands had been frustrating for the King for his attentions and efforts were focused on the European front. When he was informed he had the chance to meet with US soldiers whom would be looking to liberate the islands again, he leapt at the chance before any in his government could actually stop him.
Arriving on base, The King made his way around the soldiers until he was introduced to Captain John Smith. With a smile, he extended his hand to greet him warmly. “It --might be --terribly British of me -to thank you in advance -for the -service you are -embarking on, --Captain.”
