As of 10:10 this morning, I am officially on my way to Orlando!
I leave tomorrow!
I've spent the entire day packing, and other than buying a couple more last-minute things, I'm almost ready! I spent the week saying bye to my friends, but I think the hardest part is going to be saying bye to my family. We're going out to eat tonight, and then in the morning I'll have to say bye to my dad. (He has to work, so he can't come with us to Florida.)
Then my mom, my sisters and I are leaving and probably checking in the hotel around four o' clock, and my grandma (who lives about two hours from Orlando) is meeting us there. I'll go out to dinner with the roommates, then get to bed to get ready to get up early for check-in!
I'll be updating this as everything happens tomorrow (long car rides bore me quite a bit), so feel free to ask any questions, or let me know if you're checking in on Monday too! :)
I'm awful with keeping up with this blog and I haven't even left yet! (I can't even blame it on being busy, because I spent at least five hours on the computer last night.) The good news is, I've (finally) started to get my stuff together! You know, about a week before I leave. Timing is everything. I got my Traditions outfits at Forever 21 today and some other odds and ends from Target. I'm going to have to kick butt to get everything in order, but I knew this would happen. I'm a procrastinator. :)
To-Do List
Only 21 more days until check-in! I've definitely got to start getting ready for everything. Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I'm something of a procrastinator, so what I've got done so far is...well, next to nothing. Yikes. So I guess this is as good a time as any to make a to-do list and get to work on it! (It is definitely likely that more will be added later.)
Locate my birth certificate and/or social security card (although, really, I should find both of them anyways because it's not okay that I don't know where they are, haha)
Set up a bank account for direct deposit
Complete all the New Hire documentation
Make a list of what to pack
Gather enough boxes/containers to hold everything I'm bringing
Talk to the roomies about what big things we're bringing
Get a couple of Traditions/training outfits

Application Timeline
I've noticed a trend in the DCP tag where people post the timeline of their application process, so I thought I'd join in! I'd like to send a special shout-out to all the penders past, present, and future who read this, because I've applied to the DCP two times, and both times I was put on pending status. The first time I applied for the Spring 2012 program, was pending for most of the application period, and was declined pretty late in the game. This time, I was pended for about a month or so and was then accepted. So as you can see, being pended isn't necessarily the end of the world! If you're pended one season, you won't necessarily be pended again; and if you are, then it could be for an entirely different reason. Trying to figure out why you were pended is unnecessarily stressful, so my best advice to you is to just cross your fingers and hope for the best!
