Sunday Snippet
if u think its already monday, no u dont!! thank you for the tag @comeontakemyname
Snippet from a little side story i wrote a few days ago based off of the ''it's you!' 'despite everything, it's still you'' kinda vibe
'It's you!' It was nearly midsummer. For once, the family had managed to scrape themselves into one place without killing each other. Nobles and strangers and beautiful elves with names longer than their lifespans had been invited. Even his father- his father- had agreed to pretend to be civil to Uncle Nolofinwë. Miracles. Not that it had taken much. Just Makalaurë bursting into loud, theatrical sobs and Huan tearing through the snack table like the rabid wolfhound he was. Honestly, he thought his father had said yes just to avoid hearing the bickering anymore. It didn’t matter whose fault it was- he didn’t want the whole place to collapse again before the lanterns even went up. Irissë slapped his hand away again and dragged him outside to the pavilion, where little festival flags twisted in the wind, where soft paper lanterns hung low and glowing, and where wild bundles of flowers had been dropped near the entrance- half-arranged, maybe, or maybe just forgotten in the rush of everything. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Findekáno seated beside Maitimo on a bench too small for how close they were leaning. Tyelkormo rolled his eyes with a gag and a groan. They were so obvious. And still, it was him and Irissë who kept getting accused of being in love. He didn’t get it. If their parents had any functioning eyes between them, they’d realise who the real culprits were. He chucked a bottlecap at Maitimo’s head, dead on, and didn’t even pause to savour the affronted gasp. He was already gone, darting off towards Turukáno, feet trampling through the lavenders and white lilies that his father had fussed over, ducking under the apple tree as the petals fell gently down. He caught them in his hands, laughing as he tossed a bunch at his cousin. Oh, how he loved summer, he wished that it would always be like this.
