the hanged man: A time when they wished people would listen to them
Lena had doubts about the Slipstream project. But to a certain extent, everyone did. They had run the numbers, though, every possibility carefully analyzed each possibility–except that where time itself reject the plane. Everything seemed safe, and, persuaded by both the numbers and the promise from Winston and others on the project, Lena didn’t protest.
There was a small amount of manipulation on their part, too, telling her that she was the only one for the job and essentially guilt-tripping her into the project. Not, of course, that she was interested in leaving it, but there were plenty of outside forces in action.
When she took off, the plane flew…odd. It was too light, she kept telling them. It was denied, chalked up to nerves and an uneducated woman. Well, everyone knows how well that went. Perhaps, next time, let the military pilot tell you what’s up with the plane, hm?
