As I sit and watch yet another spectacular sunset and as I listen to the waves crash and pound the shore line I'm remembering the sound the ferosity and strength of #tcwinston. I'm deeply saddened and thinking of the beautiful Fijians who were protecting their families parents and children brothers and sisters from the brute force of the cyclone. The terror and how frightened they all were. Their children. And for all those who have lost loved ones. This noise was fierce. The sound of nature at her peak her strongest and most dominating. "As TC Winston approached our weather updates were changing by the hour. I was a mixture of nervous excitement, I love shooting clouds but to know that they where predicting this cyclone was going to be the biggest storm to ever hit Fiji with winds that were going to be off the charts, I was actually questioning my decision to stay on the island. Namotu Is is about 300 metres long and 50 metres acrossā¦ just a dot in the middle of the ocean! Winston went from a Cat 3 to Cat 5 in a matter of hours and tracking virtually straight over us. We'd been "battening down the hatchesā all day and the wind had been picking up blowing consistently at over 150 klms per hour It picked up very quickly to a peak between 11pm and 2am. With gust in excess of 300klms per hour!!! This clip was shot around 11pm before I locked myself in my bunker (editing room) The island suffered minor damage to the buildings and the vegetation took a beating.
