I don't know if the people using this even remember what that refers to? Maybe that Nixon is involved somehow, but beyond that? And at first people used the -gate suffix to imply a conspiracy, which makes a mild sort of sense, but now anything even mildly controversial gets a "-gate" and it pretty much guarantees that I will not take that thing seriously.

People who have idealist tendencies (people on tumblr, almost everyone predisposed to activism) rely on mental heuristics that reduce complexities to one side good, one side bad.

Latest polls show a big increase for labor and a 50% increase in seats for Meretz. The Lieberman / Likud split is also probably going to hurt them.
