Here is the process of the environment design. I tried to challenge myself with a new coloring technique. Close to what I imagined it would be, but I love how it turned out.
Here’s the finished product.
This is the full final animation, I liked how everything turned out.
Turn the sound on and enjoy.
Reflection - Nostalgia and Memory
A lot of studies show how every designer/animator/moviemaker, base their creations on their life experiences whether intentional or not. those same studies show that based on the viewer endeavors in life the work is perceived.
Memories are what make us the people we turn out to be, they are what defines the relationships we have with others and they keep reminding us of the awful and great things that we went through.
when we sometimes face traumatic or a bad experience, it can wreck our life and the mind we worked so hard to keep sane by reliving it over and over to the point where there will be no more room for the wonderful things we have.
In my project, I wanted to show how a certain accident can cause memory loss. A lot of disorders can lead to that such as PTSD and certain phobias. The fact that the person suffering from such things keep on reliving these experiences over and over again is what causes the brain to focus on the bad things that have happened and discard all the good things. this alone can push the person to very dark places. I Listened to a book on Audible called Strong ending, it talks about what former veterans, that faced a lot of traumatic and difficult situations, went through and what they did to get over them and get their lives back on track.
There are several ways to cope with such cases, but Strong ending emphasized on Comedy. All of the veterans that were talking about their experiences while serving their country are now Stand up comedians and that’s what helped them get back on their feet,
The pictures below are the style I want to follow throughout this project. It is quite different from the styles i usually work with.

PLACES OF THE MIND Inspiration
“Places Of The Mind” our second project, which i’m really excited about. First thing that came to mind is imagination. Imagination fascinates me. People refer to two types of imagination. The first one is that they refer to it as creativity. for example saying that someone doesn’t have an imagination is saying that he/she isn’t creative. The second is mental imagery. Imagining things that aren’t present around us at a certain time, or not even realistic.
I partly disagree with the imagination being referred to as creativity. In my opinion they are two different things. Imagining an apple on the table or recalling a scenery when you close your eyes or even dreaming is a completely different concept than creativity. Creativity is what allows humankind to fly to the moon, create art and cure illnesses. But that doesn’t mean that imagination doesn’t have a role in creativity.
I stumbled upon a term called Aphantasia. It is when someone can’t imagine something in their mind. For example if someone with Aphantasia is asked to imagine a bench on the beach, they know what a beach looks like, what it consists of, but they can’t picture it in their head. But does that mean that those people aren’t creative?
What intrigues me the most is the idea that each and everyone one us imagines things differently. Imagine a world you see through your eyes. How would it look like? What would you see?
I actually worked on something similar a few years ago which was my main inspiration. I took photographs and digitally drew on them. So I thought to myself, why not develop this idea for this project and integrate a simple animation about a character in an everyday environment that I live in.
Here are some examples of my previous work.
