How to create a simple press room
After our latest announcement, we decided to create a Silk site to function as our press room. As it turned out a Silk site is a great light-weight solution to manage press clippings. Adding articles and tags is quick and easy thanks to the Silk bookmarklet, and it’s easy to create nice overviews. No advanced technical knowledge or CMS wizardry needed.
Using the bookmarklet
The fastest way to get started is to install the bookmarklet right after you created your free Silk site. After dragging the bookmarklet to your bookmarks bar, you can click on it to add any web page to your Silk site:
The overlay that appears already contains a ‘Source’ tag with the URL of the page, and a title on the left. Add a few tags like the date and writer of the article. If you forget information that is on the web page, use the icon next to the ‘save page’ button to toggle between the web page and the Silk overlay.

If you come up with more tags while adding more articles, just add them to new articles. You can easily edit pages that miss tags later. We did this for our own press room: we forgot to add a ‘language’ tag and added it later.
Create overviews on your home page
The home page of your Silk site shows a few articles by default, but it makes more sense to add tables with articles manually. For pressroom.silk.co we created separate tables for articles about different events, and we also split up the English and Dutch articles.
