What should Mary's Christmas special give us?
My wishlist for The Other Bennet Sister Christmas special:
Mary and Tom learning how to be married without turning into other people's idea of married
Mrs Bennet trying very hard, and succeeding maybe 38 percent of the time
One Caroline Bingley update, preferably delivered with maximum self-importance
Evidence that Mary's work and mind still matter after the romance

Tom treats Maryβs seriousness as an invitation, not a defect.

I was fond of the old Mary.

Mary Bennet is getting a Christmas special
The Other Bennet Sister is coming back as a three-part Christmas special, which feels like exactly the right amount of chaos for Mary Bennet.
The finale gave her an ending, but not a sealed glass case. A holiday return means family pressure, old habits, new marriage, and the dangerous question of whether Mary can keep being herself once everyone has opinions about her happiness again.
This is the sort of Austen continuation that actually makes sense to me: not "undo the ending," but "test the ending."
We do not run and hide from the Caroline Bingleys of this world.

The thing I like about a Christmas special for The Other Bennet Sister is that it does not have to pretend Mary's finale failed.
It can ask the more interesting Austen question: what happens after the chosen ending has to survive ordinary life, family visits, money, weather, expectations, and everyone being trapped indoors together?
