A rant
I own three (3) book series either based on or incorporating Slavic mythology. That's neat, right? I thought I'd enjoy all the references to the myths and practices I'm studying right now, because yay! I do that! I worship that! ::D But guess what.
Veles is painted as a villain in all three.

DEAR GODS THIS IS LIKE THE SHIT DISNEY DID WITH HADES. JUST BECAUSE A DEITY HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DIE(TM) DOESN'T FUCKING MEAN THEY'RE EVIL. DEATH IS A NATURAL PART OF LIFE. IT HAPPENS. WE'D BE FUCKED WITHOUT IT BECAUSE OVERPOPULATION AND STUFF. THINGS HAVE TO DIE. IT'S NOT SCARY OR BAD. AND ANYWAY WHY ISN'T ANYONE PAYING ATTENTION TO OTHER DOMAINS VELES PRESIDES OVER? MAGIC? OATHS? CATTLE? ALL Y'ALL DID WITH THAT WAS GIVE HIM HORNS AND THUS BASICALLY MAKE HIM INTO THE DEVIL.
THE FUCK HAS HE DONE TO Y'ALL? HE'S JUST MINDING HIS OWN BUSINESS AND OCCASIONALLY HAVING A TUSSLE WITH PERUN BECAUSE THAT'S THEIR JOB IN THE CYCLE OF NATURE. APPARENTLY THAT'S HOW THUNDERSTORMS HAPPEN. YOU LIKE THUNDERSTORMS, RIGHT? WELL YOU'RE WELCOME. LEAVE HIM ALONE.
