At some point in my entrepreneurial journey, I stopped to ask the question- What makes some people more successful than others in business? I am fortunate to have a clientele list in the service industry dealing with high profile business leaders (the top 1%), and at some point I started paying closer attention to literally everything they did, how they operate, how they ASK, ACT and ASPIRE - with Audacity. How they Negotiate. How they deal with No and difficult situations. How they boldly go after clear targets, how they trust their judgement when things aren’t necessarily fully aligned. How They ACE Business. They never accept Average or mediocrity as a standard. I even went on to observe their book lists, their libraries- whenever I walked into an office or home- I’d take a scan of the bookshelves. I’d ask questions. I’d set up lunch or brief meetings to discuss the economy, business environment, plus what I could do to serve them better. I’d ask and listen- for long periods of time. They’d ask me questions in my area of expertise- and listen too... for long periods. Interesting. I understood why. Leaders are learners too. At different points, I attended 3 different business schools (Lagos Business School, Oxford Said Business School and Cambridge Judge Business School to deep dive into areas of business that I found particularly interesting- I gained a lot- but nothing has been as impactful as what I refer to as Experiential Immersive Learning- Time spent with the DOERS in the environment of DOING. What’s my point- If you want to Stand Out as a Champion Entrepreneur- you need to learn from the Masters- not for certification - but for Audacity of Action!
