Happy International Literacy Day! We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn to read and write. Each year, JEP awards scholarships to needy students and participates in national events such as Read Across Jamaica Day. We also provide sponsorships to NGOs, including Jamaica Association for the Deaf and SOS Jamaica, to ensure that children are literate despite disabilities or financial challenges. This year we celebrate International Literacy Day under the theme ‘Literacy and Multilingualism’, which emphasizes the importance of literacy to individual, national, regional and international development. According to the World Bank (2014), Jamaica’s literacy rate is 88%. No child should be left behind. HUGE THANK YOU @jamaicaenergypartners for your continuous support to education in Jamaica👏🏿🇯🇲🎓🔥‼️👨🏾‍🎓 ・・・ On July 26, 2019, JEP and WKPP will disburse scholarships totalling $11,050,000 to thirty PEP achievers and seven tertiary students at our annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony. The PEP students, who will transition to high school this upcoming school term, will receive $35,000 while tertiary recipients will receive scholarships valuing $250,000 or grants of $180,000. The scholarships will be re-awarded until the completion of their study, once a B+ average is maintained. The award ceremony will be held at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, starting at 9 am. Minister of Science, Energy and Technology, The Hon.
