By the chosen profession they are blacksmiths who once used to make weapons for Kings. Their origin is shrouded in legend. Their forefathers were blacksmiths in the army of Maharana Pratap of Mewar. When Mewar fell to the Mughals they pledged with Maharana Pratap never to return to their homeland and never to settle anywhere else until Rana's hegemony was restored. Till today they are keeping the oath alive, with their temporary settlement on a bullock cart. From the same they got their name and identity in today's world.
