So, I'm back in Bandung.Â
Lots went on in the short 5 days I was in Bali. Â I went to see Iron Maiden, stayed with the most hospitable Dethu and his lovely wife Sarah, hung with my bros from Jakarta driving around south Bali in the mirrorless kuntara, looking at awesome bikes (motored and otherwise), eating good food, learning new words and seeing parts of Bali that I hadn't seen before.Â
I finally got to meet my facebook friend Bianca and her wonderfully spirited gang of girlfriends. Â We watched a great local band, and talked a lot, and it made me so excited to be back in Bali again. Â After weeks of living out of my suitcase, I finally found a place to live, with my own koi pond and gorgeous big temple. Â I spent time exploring my new hood, Petitenget, stumbling across ubercool bars and cafes that will soon become my locals. Â I also can't wait to get back to sample food from the many awesome looking warungs that line my street. Â Perhaps I'll do a daily review and photo post on each! Â
Unfortunately I missed the Koil show, , which was said to be massive. Â Sad to have missed seeing Wendy and some others that made the journey down, but hey, Jakarta is only a few hours away. Â I did make it in time to see the Gogstore show, which Fanny and Arya put a lot of work into organising. Â It was at an amazing place called Potluck Kitchen, a communal home-style cafe, with seperate rooms for reading, eating, drinking and chatting. Â Arya and Fanny did a wonderful job with the stage, it was a beautiful setting for the really great bands that played. Â
Spring Summer were on first, and reminded me a lot of Melbourne's Our Anatomy (RIP). Â I enjoyed finally seeing Under My Pillow play, and they were perfect swirly, pretty, garden party music. Â Then, an "acoustic" set by post rockers Slow in Dance. Â Good chats with the boys after, before hitting the hay and waking up with beginnings of a flu. Â Luckily for me I have a very comfortable hotel room, and a mini mart downstairs that sells codeine off the shelf. Â Currently awaiting the delivery of food and vodka by Feransis, as suggested by the ever-thoughtful Eric Wirjanata (wink wink!). Â
Despite the germs, I look forward to doping myself up for another night of fun in Bandung, this time at Arya and Gerry's school, ITENAS, where the delightful Under My Pillow will play once again.Â
