You mentioned in your ask the Quanin and Pheres thing, and yes?? I was thinking about that the other day, partially because ngl, I LOVE QUANIN TOO MUCH, but also.. it'd be a fun friendship! The more I turn it over, yeah, Pheres would definitely like her, and unlike with Luisan, he wouldn't feel obliged to make sure she likes *him*, so his friendliness would be mostly genuine!

(meanwhile, Sipara whines about it, but doesn't actually intervene beyond telling Pheres not to go into any shady-ass murder dungeons. Pheres thinks it's an RPG joke, assumes that Quanin evidently likes video games and proceeds to try and ask her about them, because it's important to engage in your friends interests!!)

YES. :D Passive-aggressive have-to-stay-on-good-terms-because-BUSINESS relationships for everyone! Pheres would actually probably blow an absurd amount of money on earrings, once his thread with Imnots concludes. (He complained about getting his ears pierced, but he's going to end up with a second row, because SHINY.) If Vermei ever brought up his ancestor thing, I could see Pheres offering to do an ancestry report for him? And then getting increasingly mad as he turns up nothing, because WHY IS YOUR LINE APPARENTLY NON-EXISTENT, VERMEI, THIS ISN'T NORMAL. >:I

(also, oh my god, I'm picturing that Pheres starts dumping all of his leftovers from Emerel's house on Vermei for some reason? Pheres just pretends he cooks them, because he wants them to GTFO of his taxidermy fridge, and he brings them over and dumps them on Vermei's like a passive-aggressive soccermom with cookies at a PTA meeting. 'I cook for all of my friends,' he explains blandly while Vermei's just like ???)

Sipara complains relentlessly about all of her nerdy rusty bros, but that doesn't stop her from collecting them like Pokemon. I can see her deciding to latch onto Vossy for one reason or another (she needs a book and she sees Vossy being cowed by her coworkers and she is personally appalled?), and.. would Vossy be appalled? I feel like she'd be appalled at this strange, scruffy redblood fighter deciding they're going to be BFFS4EVA.

I kind of want Riccin and Kadath to be friends! IDK, I'm just picturing Kadath coming into Riccin's dreams, pulling up all of her weirdo ideas about space, and Riccin being totally appalled at first, then fascinated. ("i AM LIKE, NINETY EIGHT PERCENT SURE IT DOESN'T FUCKING WORK THIS WAy," they start to say, and then they get distracted because kadath is sitting on a star or some shit, and now she's taller?? NO. how very fucking dare she. desperate scrabble to find their own star.)

And they wouldn't be able to default to their usual "this person is annoying me, thump them in the face 8|" because, hello, dream! LEARN TO SOCIALISE LIKE A NORMAL PERSON, RICCIN. :I

... also, just because of Kadath's ancestors fate, I just like the idea of Riccin getting incredibly enthusiastic about helmsmen at Kadath at every opportunity??? cough.

This is long as hell, but so keeping this one short: Idonea and Riccin? Would Idonea want to cull them as a heretic, or are they more accepting of Imperial-sanctioned offshoots of the church? Riccin is pretty close to a complete teetoller, but I could picture them beating up lowbloods together or something, I DUNNO.

also: omgriccin trying to ~help~ lavier become a better blueblood(what are their ideas of a proper blueblood even? PROBABLY NOT THE SAME AS HIS. but the end result would probably be riccin trying to get him to be more assertive and confident / self-reliant, admittedly through some pretty casteist dogma.)
