So my 16 year old little brother is still at a stage where he occasionally uses the word "gay" as a complaint (i.e. "that's so gay"), but nonetheless vehemently defends gay adoption in front of my more conservative parents and denounces heteronormativity in society. Keep in mind that I never mentioned any kind of queer stuff to him, nor am I out to my family. I think we may have an ally in training, and a proper one at that (at least, after he drops out of the "that's so gay" phase).
