I seriously hustled to do a second round of interviews (after pushing through the whole recruitment process on behalf of the other supervisor that I’ll be sharing this position with, and after very clear messaging from her that this was *increasingly urgent*) and I sent my recommendations for the two final interviews (along with extensive notes) TEN days ago. And she has yet to schedule the interviews. Like, if your calendar was full up this week, after the holiday, okay. But she hasn’t even *scheduled* them. 

If we had antitrust legislation that was worth a damn maybe things would be different but we don't and they aren't.

It is just enough that my purchasing power remains approximately the same now as it was pre-pandemic given inflation. My expenses have gone up considerably since then but that is due to home ownership. I am in the coveted adult position of "continuing to do okay right now" which feels very gratifying and also part of me wishes for more even though given that I live where I live, no rational amount will ever feel like "a lot" so kind of what is the point.

I would like this job, I think, even though it would be more work. It would let me use the skills I've built up over the last six years but also allow for positive career growth (and more money, which is good because I'm pretty close to peak in my current role unless I accept a job building the torture matrix or move to a 996 corp).
