she likes to go out to her people and see whats happening with her own eyes, but she must be incognito of course so they don't know her true identity. so she wears a mask. but it's a porcelain mask. and it fits so perfectly to her face that it doesn't need ties to hold it up.

and the mask is hundreds of years old.

she hasn't been preserved for ten years, but three hundred.

milandra gives hant's mask to derry as per the book, but instead of a balaclava fabric style it is carved from wood or moulded from clay or such. it's not a pointed gesture that he should wear it, just that she doesn't want to hold it anymore and it's a message of him following in hant's footsteps and a warning that he will fail too etc (im not sure if milandra saw hant unmasked, just knew he was El. otherwise then it WOULD be a pointed gesture lmao it would be like giving lief the belt of deltora)

god it'd be harder to hide this type of mask now that i think of it🤔

anyway come to the king's speech and derry scrounges up the courage to face the crowd and offer a different truth and he puts on the mask and it fits perfectly on his face. he probably wont have time to process this at all and theres probably all this adrenaline pumping through his veins

hey friends! been meaning to write this for a while but i kept forgetting 🙈 anyway i realised i should probably start thinking about prepping the prompts for this year’s Roddacember event (if you’ve got no idea what im talking about, search “Roddacember” and you should see a bunch of fan content 💖)

i was thinking about changing it up a bit, and making the prompts less like the recent years and more like the first year

you can check out the previous masterposts under #Roddacember prompts for reference, but the general gist is that the first year was more specific and like questions, whereas in recent years it has been more open and one-worded prompts.

while i like the one-word prompts for the challenge they present, i think that it’s also making it a lot harder than it needs to be. i think it can be an opportunity to create stuff that you might not have on your own, but i think that i would rather Roddacember be fun and accessible instead of too hard to participate!

so im leaning towards the question-ish prompts instead, which i reckon is easier to deal with and is friendlier to people who dont want to prepare weeks in advance.

maybe i will put them in cateogories so there's a theme each week like here, maybe not. depends on whether people prefer structure or a fruit salad of prompts?

i could perhaps have more straightforward 'easy' prompts in early December and more abstract 'hard' prompts towards the end, in a sort of "best of both worlds"?
