The Eocene ended with the Eocene-Oligocene Extinction Event this event is largely characterised by an extinction of many of the remaining large oceanic creatures and saw the emergence of the Oligocene characterised by broad leaf forests and large grass land expanses. The lack of reptilian oceanic predators allowed fishes to develop into monsterous sizes giving way to such creatures as megalodon sharks which are much large extinct relatives of modern great white sharks.
Even more pictures of beautiful Hokkaido scenery on our way home. We’re at a 7-Eleven right now for a bathroom and smoke break. Tomo-san’s allergies are acting up again, which is why she’s wearing the mask.
Here’s a video of the view from the side of the road.
On one hand, I think adding a tabletop to a trash can (pic 1) is a great way to make use of space. On the other hand, most of the people sitting around here are eating crepes from Marion Crepes (pic 2), and do you really want to eat your food on top of a trash can?
Pics 3-5 are more of the outside area of the shopping street. The clouds have really been coming in all day. I hope it’s not going to rain...

So, shortly after yakisoba, Ken-chan disappeared. At first, we didn’t think much of it because some people went home (including Kei and Sensei) and we thought he had been part of the group of people who escorted them back to their cars. However, maybe half an hour later, we realized he hadn’t returned yet. Tomo-san, Watanabe-san, and I armed ourselves with flashlights and went in search of him. We started with the beach first and then moved onto the residential area.
Lo and behold, just when I was starting to get really worried, Watanabe-san and I found him passed out in the shed on the second floor! We both started laughing and, while Watanabe-san called down to Tomo-san, I (of course) took a picture and then draped that blanket-like thing over him. When Tomo-san came up, though, she pulled out a sleeping bag and literally shimmied him into it while berating him.
Right before we were about to leave him be to snore the rest of the night away, though, Watanabe-san told me to say (in Japanese), “Daaaaaadyyyyyyyy!” and pretend to kiss him on the cheek. Ken-chan smiled and muttered incomprehensibly in Japanese and, just as he half sat up, Watanabe-san kissed him on the cheek instead. (Btw, if Ken-chan even remembers the whole thing at all, I don’t think he realized it was Watanabe-san. Lol!)
A different band is playing this time! Well, some of the band members are the same. But different singers.
I feel like such a rebel
We’re taking a taxi home and Tomo-San said not to bother putting on our seatbelts. I tried protesting, “Safety!” Tony’s explaining to her right now how not wearing your seatbelt in the US is illegal. Lol.
It just feels so wrong to not wear a seatbelt. CHP should be proud: they have successfully brainwashed me into always wearing a seatbelt.
