The period in which the Earth began to recover from its previous extinction event is called the “Paleocene” it is characterised by a resurgance in smaller plant, insect, reptillian and amphibious lifeforms alongside a rise in the dominance of mammals.
We made another sightseeing/smoke stop. It’s so windy that the gusts of wind have left patterns in the sand! Ken-chan went down to the beach to explore and brought back a shell that was almost entirely intact.
On a day when there isn’t a typhoon on its way, I’m sure this place is stunning. I think it would be fun to go biking along the trail!

Oh yeah! Another big feature of Mount Hakodate is the ropeway (pic 3). It’s on my list of things to do in Hakodate, but the line is maaaaaaassive. Plus, the view is really what I wanted to see the most.

Onward, to the next store! This one is all about stones and jewelry. *drool* The window crystals immediately to the left when you walk through the door (pic 1) and little display on the right (pic 2) are just so cute!!!! I think the table in pic 3 is where kids can make their own jewelry...or something like that.
The three of us separated for a bit to wander around and browse (pics 4-6), but Tomo-san and I both oohed and aahed over the tiny little glass figurines together (pic 7).
Near the back of the store, there are two tables dedicated entirely to birthstones. I’ve also known my birthstone is Aquamarine, but I didn’t know that it represented eternal youth, wealth, and joy (pic 8). I’m down for eternal youth! Maybe that’s why everyone always says I look 8-10 years younger than I am. :P
I also really liked the pink quartz table (pic 9). I came THIS CLOSE to getting a bracelet but decided against it at the last minute (praise me on my self-restraint!!!!).
In the end, Tomo-san and Ken-chan bought me a pair of really cute Aquamarine earrings (I could immediately tell they had made up their minds to do so when I told them it was my birthstone), as well as a necklace for Kei with her birthstone.
Back at camp! For some reason that I’m too lazy to find out, they decided to start a bonfire. Lol.
In the last picture: Mine-chan is standing next to Tomo-san, with Tony drinking a beer behind her. Yuki-chan is talking to Arapi and Ueno-san is doing something at the grill.
