These microbes would quickly learn to develop means of taking in extra energy to insure their own survival either absorbing other microbes to combine their nutrients and energy or by taking in energy directly from the sun as it shon through the waters of the fairly barren, empty oceans, these later microbes would become the first photosynthetic algeas, they did this by developing carbohydrate molecules from the abundance of carbon and hydrogen within themselves and the oceans which they could then use to generate sugars to consume as energy to power themselves while exuding oxygen as a waste product. As bacteria these algea were able to develop reaction centres made from their own plasma membrane that contain protiens and green chlorophyll pigments which are especially suited to taking in the light from our sun, esentially the protien strands made from the cell membrane exude a green pigmentation which allows light energy to be absorbed and trapped recharging the cells own energy which is depleeting as the cell expends movement and growth having been cut of from the source of its initial energy from the planets star core, this also meant that the developing early algeas took on the green colour they are associated with to this day. As these washed up on the shores they may have eventually become early moss and both the algea and early plant life developing from it would have helped to oxygenate the planet as they took in carbon, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and water releasing the oxygen as a waste product which the cell found no use for.
