I'm going to lay it out at the top: this one HURTS. No Good Deed is an epistolary-style oneshot that takes place through a series of voicemails Foggy leaves Matt after he's crushed by Midland Circle in Defenders. It's as angsty as you might expect, but it's far from being one-note. In addition to Foggy's feelings running the full spectrum from anger to grief to wistful sadness, there are quietly brilliant sprinkles of characterization throughout, not limited to him and Matt but even stretching out beyond them to include other characters filtered through Foggy's perspective (Brett, Marci, and Karen, among others). It's clear a lot of thought and care went into this one, and it slots perfectly right into canon, scratching a very particular itch. Check it out and leave a comment for the author when you do!

maybe a large part of him hadn't expected her to be looking. it makes him feel almost exposed, nearly vulnerable. he swallows the tic in his jaw, hard. his rebirth had been brutal, but private. it was terrifying to think she might have seen the whole thing.
