November Shakespeare News
wearing possets berenice this evening and i must say this one was worth the hunt. i was given a sample with an indie swap like two years ago and then for MONTHS hunted it on indie exchanges on reddit because it is that good and i found it last fall and have enjoyed every time ive worn it since. well worth it. it’s not what i wore to work (ive been going for my cheap oil perfumery lira dupe, trying to pan it bc im meh on it), but my god, i wish it was possible to smell this way all the time. it’s in my hall of fame of “limited edition years old scents i can’t replace but will always think of with love in my heart”.
berenice ACTUALLY smells like dry fizzy grapefruit champagne + aldehydes, clean pink skin musk, and very smouldering church incense. the pinky dry clean base is just so well paired with the darkness of the incense here that i feel sickened (positive) every time i wear it. i will say it is lightly sweet but certainly not gourmand. this smells like daybreak. this was also the scent i associated with my pathfinder oracle before i had her custom. the incense edge is undeniably churchy, honestly, but the dry grapefruit mimosa heart does something very interesting to it and almost veils it, like a thin barrier between the smoky billow of…probably dragons blood(?) and the rest of the world. i love it as a work appropriate or day appropriate scent that has a nice edge to it without reading as “sexy” and is just kind of off putting. this scent is discontinued! you have to hunt it on indie exchanges to find it and it’s been discontinued for like more than five years! so you probably won’t find it at all! and i’m sorry to anyone interested!
SPIRITED AWAY SENTENCES. // accepting!
@possets : ❛ well, getting there is one thing. getting back's the problem. ❜
when cairo fell ill from a mysterious illness, atticus hadn't a shadow of a doubt in his mind that he would have to seek out the famed pharmacy of liyue known to cure all. its owner and practitioner was plenty renowned, even all the way in inazuma, and given he was in no state to be going to inazuma for his ailing companion...
liyue it was.
and never in his life had he heard of an elemental-specific disease.
electric sickness, in its simplistic name. an imbalance had occurred in the electricity-generating glands in cairo's body, resulting in flu-like symptoms that meant cairo had to be left at the pharmacy while he and its owner, baizhu, went and found the ingredients.
honestly, he had been surprised by the fact the pharmacist had been willing to help figure out cairo's illness, given he was a beast, not a human, but to join him in scouting for the elusive ingredients?
electro slime essence, but not only that, but it had to be harvested close to the top of a mountain where it was coldest.
with a well-trodden path up guiding their way, the journey down was all that was left--but he could see his medicine-hunting companion was spent. he had heard rumors when locating the bubu pharmacy that its doctor was not well himself. it looked like the rumors had a kernel of truth.
saddled with the vials filled with the slime essence drained from the bodies of the slain electro slime, surprisingly dense in spite of the slimes' light and bouncy appearance, atticus himself was rather tired from the whole process. though, he still had plenty of energy to spare in comparison to the light-headed looking baizhu.
"..."
stepping over, atticus bent down, crouching to the ground.
"get on."
holding out his arms behind himself, ready to pull baizhu properly up and onto his back, he glanced over his shoulder.
"it'll be faster if i carry you back down."
the longer they took, the longer cairo had to wait in discomfort and pain.

Lemon Possets
A Super Easy Old-Fashioned Creamy Dessert: Honey Lilac Posset (Or Rose, Elderflower, Peony, Lavender…)
Dating back to the Middle Ages, the posset is making a comeback. Perfect for when you want to whip up a special dessert with minimal effort, it’s made with three ingredients, honey, cream and lemon juice. These are boiled together and chilled overnight. That’s it. And if that isn’t wonderful enough, try infusing your posset with spring flowers like lilac, wild rose or elderflower. Simply divine.

POSSETS GRATIFY AND SEDUCE
A dark sweet slightly floral to incense type of a fragrance. Narcotic black Bourbon vanilla liquor opens on top of white creamy tuberose and a lick of linden blossom.
THIS IS GROSS!!
Wet on skin this is all cherry and almond, which I’m guessing is the linden blossom? This melts immediately into a powdery, gross baby powder sort of scent that reminds me of stinky cat litter with a hint of fake leather wafting in and out. No tuberose, certainly no incense here, which is why I chose this scent from the fall retour in the first place. It’s HEAVY on the baby powder smell, which I personally can’t stand at all. The florals which I expected to be wet and juicy smelling are deeply, deeply powdery. I can see this working for someone who wants a dusty powdered floral, but on me, I can’t stand it enough to wear and see if it will transform on the skin over time. A scrubber! Blech!
