I just had a 50 min long phone call with my mom today, and even though the topic was hefty—I’ve never felt so much joy as I have tonight.
Quoting my mom, “Do you know why they say there are only three days? There is yesterday, today, and tomorrow. If you worry only about yesterday, you miss today, and if you worry only about today, what about tomorrow?”
What my mom said really resonated with me because ever since I was young I’ve always lived by the model, “Everyday is a new day.” I would never bring yesterday’s event into today. And today’s event never carries over to tomorrow. I live my life to the fullest no matter the hardships I faced. I know I grew up with some rough shit happening and I know there will always be someone suffering worst. However, if you kept dwelling in the past, you can never enjoy your present, nor change the future for the better.
What I’m getting at is, you have the power to choose where you want to get, to where you want to end up in life. Take it. Do something. Every move you make count. No matter how tough, how much you want to give up, you—yourself—are the only person that can help you. I hope some of you are able to take something away from my long ass post because I believe you can do it. Keep on going, you got this.
