One of the first places I visited in Portland 21 years ago was the International Rose Test Garden at Washington Park. I always wished I could get the city view looking just over the trees. Well this morning I took my drone there after getting it back from the repair shop last night. I launched for sunrise, but for some reason it would only fly to 100 ft. I had done a test on everything last night, but not actually flown it. I struggled amongst the trees, and did what I could. After landing I decided to try flying one last time with my iPhone for controls, instead of the iPad I usually use, and it worked! The city lights had shut off, so the shot I wanted was gone, but I was still happy. For about 3 minutes until I was told drones are not allowed in the park:( Luckily I got a few shots off.
