This post is dedicated to Mohaponchok, the main antagonist in Rabindranath Tagore’s play “Achalayton” (lit. Immobile)
Fair warning: it’s going to be a long post ahead because I love him so much and I can absolutely write an entire book on him.
Mohaponchok: Character Profile
First of all, let me narrate the story from his point of view. After all, all villains are hero who’s story has not been told. A wrote a poem to explain his story.
Now moving to MBTI typing him.
Hands down, ISTJ.
Then, let’s talk about what I love about him:
His loyalty and dedication towards his values. When everyone turned against him, he still held on to his values. If that’s not the most authentic thing, I don’t know what is. True, it does sound very stubborn but to be stubborn about things dearest to you, is what I define loyalty as.
His calm and dependable nature. When the whole place was panicking and things went uncertain, he reassured the others, even his grown-ups that things would be alright.
His hardwork. If you read his backstories it states that from being poor kids he raised to the head platform only through his efforts. That takes a lot of struggle, man.
His care towards his brother. True, he isn’t one to be overly affectionate towards his loved ones but he subtly shows it. For instance, he says “You can’t even get angry on this monkey” even though his brother is totally different from him, and conflicts his core values.
And now, what he needs to improve:
He is human too! He isn’t perfect. And to love someone is to put out their flaws as well.
His rigidity. Boy, you need to accept change. It’s inevitable. You’ve to change a little, adapt a little with your surrounding. And you CAN do that without altering your values.
His arrogance. I understand you have all rights to pride on things you’ve achieved but pipe it down a little.
Against creativity/ being different. As someone who wants to be unique, I can assure you there’s nothing bad in being different.
That’s it, I guess. If you know him, feel free to DM/ask me about him. I could talk on for ages and ages about him. And if you don’t know him, I hope I could introduce you to my favourite character.
To the one who has read through all this, thank you so much!
