Acrylic Still Life Update: Well, Wednesday's class was a bit trickier than expected. We were asked to mix a polyfiller (plaster) and wallpaper glue mixture, that went into our acrylics. We used that to create texture on the board. #acrylic #artclass #polyfiller

Polyfilla Cement Sculptural Relief

I was having a bit of a problem understanding the complex layers and organic forms of the original photograph and decided to work with a mix of polyfilla cement on an old canvas support to create a sculptural relief.
It was pleasant to approach this project in a different way using different materials; I thought it may be interesting to use a subtractive process rather than an additive one – in the form of carving a large block of soap which is quite an unusual and versatile substance.
