part of his original reason for hating jake was because he always liked boys but following his transition and opportunity to completely reinvent himself between loops and successfully hide his old self, he repressed that as much as he was able since he needed to be a Real Man and Real Men Dont Like Other Men. he didnt really hate jake that much, he hated firstly abe and the idea of jake being like abe, but also the way jake made him feel. a bit after the movie he started having confusing feelings but it was actually olive who first approached jake and asked if people from his time were ever in relationships with multiple people and he taught about polyamory. with enochs consent she continued to be his gf while also exploring romantic feeling for emma which led to jake and olive both (sort of) dating emma, resulting in enoch having to confront the feelings he had been unsuccessfully trying to ignore. he wasnt really sure how to go about it but settled for an honest handwritten note slipped under jakes door and then hiding in his room for a few days until jake came to ask him about it and they are now bfs
