What a difference an indie can make! @nailcraftaddict got to see the good and bad side of Galaxy Cauldron, one of@our multichrome toppers, and look at it in all of its shifty glory when put over black!! 😍😍😍😍 ・・・ So this morning, I was looking for a few polishes to take with me, and came across these few from Shinespark Polish (@shinesparkpolish) I bought a few months ago and never used. This particular one is so pretty in the bottle, I couldn't figure out why I had never used it. It's called Galaxy Cauldron. I painted it on a little swatch stick, so that I could see what it looked like and was very disappointed at the semi-sheer orangey-yellow color! This is two coats of "Fixin' To". C'mon ... this name?? Hahahahaha! Its a backbone staple of southern dialect. And this shade was made and named by someone in California. Moon Shine Mani, to be specific. And really ... "moonshine"? Another staple of southern culture! Phoebe (Moon) may have said her husband named this polish. Not sure, but there must be a native somewhere in their family cause everything in this collection has a frickin awesome name. I love the brush, formula, shade and subtle green shimmer. How many polishes are there with Moneypenny in the name? I have at least two. Totally different shades. Well its Sunday and that means berries, so today's potd is OPI's Morning, Moneypenny. Another snag from @llldestash. If you haven't shopped destashes, I highly recommend it. Soooo this is a magnetic polish and I don't have the magnet that went with it which is fine bc I don't want it bc if you google this polish you'll see it looks a lot better all by itself. <-- That's my best impression of a millennial online. How'd I do? Could you tell it was me? I do really like this shade non-magnetized tho. It has holo microglitter in it that shows in the bottle but is difficult to photograph on the nail. Not Yummy Yam. Did you think it was Yummy Yam? Well this shade is very close, but actually its Tupelo Honey. It looks exactly like my granny's sweet potato pie. I guess that's too similar of a name, so the Sally Hansen polish namers went with Tupelo Honey. That has to be it. Cause Granny's Sweet Potato Pie would be an *awesome* polish name. Today's theme for @polish.swatch.sunday is red, white, or blue for Labor Day. I chose a classic, Zoya's Dream which is described as a deep space blue with holographic glitter. I used two thin coats to achieve full opacity, however, in direct sunlight I can see my nail line. If you have long nails you may want to make the second coat a bit thicker. This polish changed my life. How or why is really only of interest to me, and I won't go into that here. But exactly one year ago today, I was made aware of its existence. And that was the first step down a whole new path I had no idea I was about to travel. I have worn it only once before, and that was an in-car road-trip mani, which we all know doesn't count, so I'm reinstating it as an untried. Are you ever able to trace major events in your life back to one single simple little object? Or one single small decision? That concept fascinates me. I love to play the what-would-one-year-ago-me-think game. Year after year, the answer is, One-Year-Ago me would look at Today Me and say "how on earth did I end up there?" I feel like I should acknowledge that there's also a lot of crap that can be attributed to one lousy step. But I don't keep those mementos. They get obliterated in the fireplace or thrown in the trash under rotting food. The good ones, tho ... they get special treatment.
