Home solar companies are on the defensive as many U.S. states look to dial back renewable-energy incentives amid growing pressure from local electric utilities.
This article talks a lot about the status of the solar subsidies in many states. These solar subsidies, which are a policy tool, have been cut substantially due to pressure from the utility companies. This also is again an example of the elite theory, where the upper class, or bourgeoisie, (which in this case are the wealthy power companies and the politicians) is determining the public policy and not the public itself.Â
The author writes:
 “Overall, two dozen states are weighing changes to their incentives for rooftop solar power and other renewable-energy policies, according to the North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center, which tracks such policies. Incentive payments have been the backbone of home solar firms’ business model.
These policy tool subsidies and incentives are being lost, even though politicians still argue for clean energy on a surface level.
