3. I was rewatching the first four episodes yesterday and today because I could, and I noticed in the first episode, zo asked his friends to not tag him in photos they took at the bar, because "I don't want my mum to see"

but my question is... why? he's just out drinking with friends, he's an adult, he's not being irresponsible or anything, so why doesn't he want her to see the photos?

is it something to do with what his mum thinks of him? is she overbearing? does she have high expectations of him? does she kinda suck?

I start to worry. What is Jeng's hidden agenda? Does he want to start fake dating a girl to hide his relationship? Is he testing how well Pok can handle that idea?

But my other parallel is to Pok and Jeng. Because they might be together but they are stuck in the closet because of the world around them. They reflect what could have happened if Puen hadn't simply turned Zo's confession into a joke and hurt him so deeply it was a struggle for him to ever open up again.

A relationship in the closet. A relationship behind closed doors. A relationship where anyone seeing you is a danger and anyone knowing about your love is something to avoid.

Zo was manipulated cruelly but in return Puen kept them out of a relationship that would have to be hidden and have to be a secret... which is worse, in the end?

I don't know why this made me think of that. Actually, I think it's about the hidden agendas part of the show titled hidden agenda.

Puen was flirting with Zo and had feelings for him but he hid his own agenda because he couldn't handle the actual reality and idea of their relationship. Now, Joke is flirting with Zo but he used manipulation to get there, including his friends, to get them closer and to find their way together.

And then we have Pok. Pok, who fell in love with Jeng and has closeted himself for the man he loves and their relationship and is trying to stay happy but isn't. He isn't happy and we know he isn't but he wants to be happy. He wants to convince himself this is enough, this is all he wants.

Joke and Zo will never be in the closet about their relationship. Joke's grandmother already knows. Zo told his friends Joke was flirting with him. Joke enlisted his friends in helping get them together. Their relationship will be in danger but it will never be from trying to hide it.

The want, even the need to be able to open and out about his relationship... and the wish that he didn't have to worry about who would judge them and how.

And this also goes back, very strongly, to the start when it's Joke who pulls them out of the closet to show Zo that there are relationships around them that match what he wants...but still knowing that they're in the closet makes this more complicated. Jeng obviously agreed to this, to being outted to Zo about his relationship, but does Pok know that?

So this isn't just about Joke and Zo, even for Joke. This is about the people around them as well. How many hidden agendas does Joke have? How many people are helping him not knowing that he's also trying to help them?

Now, rather obviously, Jeng knew the plan and was in on this and prepared to be outted to Zo by Joke. He didn't even raise an eyebrow when Joke mentioned his boyfriend despite being the reason they're in the closet and keeping their relationship secret.

But Pok had no idea this was going to happen. And he's worried, both about being out with Jeng and about Zo being upset. So even if this is what he wanted, to be be able to be out and tell his friends about their relationship, did Joke out him? And, even if he did, is this a bad thing? Pok wants to be out. He desperately wants to be able to openly date Jeng and this gives him a chance to experience that feeling, to love him around friends without hesitation.

But he wasn't given a choice in this. Joke and Jeng outted him to Zo without his knowledge (most likely). They took the secret he wanted out and laid it out for someone he could trust. Is that a gift or is that an outting? Is it worse that it's part of a manipulation and plan or is it meant to give him another outlet that Joke recognizes he needs but couldn't have with Jeng? How deep does this go? Jeng doesn't seem worried about keeping Pok in the closet but it's apparent that Pok is doing the same as Zo and hiding how much it bothers him.

How much of Joke's hidden agenda is about Zo and how much is about the other people in his life and their secrets, their pain? Honestly, Joke's giant crush is barely hidden. I don't know if you can even call it a hidden agenda, frankly.

But helping Jeng and Pok start coming out? Working with Zo's friends to get closer to him to help him start expressing his emotions more honestly? Joke might be doing a lot more than just desperately singing his feelings.

Anyway, I dunno. I have very mixed feelings about outting someone who actively wants to be out but knows he can't be for that sake of his boyfriend. Jeng got Joke to delete the couple photos he had of Jeng and Pok but he also allowed them to be outted to Zo.
