more misc thoughts on my currently in process pokeverse, gijinka / human form edition:
ā Pokemon who reach a certain 'level' (i.e. gather enough internal power) can shapeshift into a more humanoid form. Greater power = greater versatility of the form / greater control over fine details
Mythical / legendary pokemon: Super good at this! talent varies by 'mon and practice. Arceus' humanoid form is always a little wrong no matter what they do, while Mew's is 100% perfect. They can also use other abilities while maintaining this form.
Pseudo Legendaries:Ā Ā the most likely of 'regular' pokemon to attain this ability. Generally they're somewhat imperfect and tend to retain secondary traits
Psychic, Fairy, Ghost types: next most likely to achieve form changing due to their natures / how they were created
Markedly Intelligent and or Strong pokemon:Ā such as Ninetales, Gyarados, Lucario, Lapras, Oranguru, Slowking, etc. (not a complete list, ofc)
Pokemon with extraordinarily strong bonds with a trainer: any pokemon may achieve this, should they find a compatible trainer and reach sufficient power levels.
ā Note on humans - 'humans' are a specialized divergent species of pokemon - different enough to no longer count as 'actual' pokemon. their evolutionary function with true pokemon is symbiotic in nature.
This has to do with their aura. Aura is just an externally emanating form ofĀ āXPā. Humans are like walking XP boosters, which they adapted to survive alongside the more magically inclined pokemon.
