Love has given me voice
by Mecki Bricks
Would anyone deeply enjoy me
if my wellbeing wasn’t at stake?
Do you really want me there
Or is that just for my sake?
It’s my feelings you try to spare
But it’s still some kind of ache
I know you do it because you care
But still here i lie awake
Wondering if i’m what you choose
Or what you have to partake
Does my presence add to your views
Or just a guilt you can’t shake?
Kinda rough poem I wrote about capitalism
Amazon box on the steps
Means nothing to me,
Someone's baby sealed the packaging
Hand stitched clothes on my skin
I want to be a mother when I'm older
But will I have air to breathe?
Will I have gone to Japan
Will I work for a company
No ethical consumption in poverty
No land that belongs to any but the sea
And yet you deny it, border and define it
Until what end to the greed?

Though my eyes are now dry
I won't forget a single tear I cried
You may think it was nothing
But don't you know mother dear
The axe forgets but the tree remembers
