6/9 POD 2: Summary
- drove locally to get lunch (we driving hehe but slowly just in case)
- poor quad activation at this point. Can’t lift up my leg without using my hands or other leg. Stiff.
- still able to get about 0-90 but struggling
- pain is back to what it was the day before which is better /minimal pain, but took another Tramadol in anticipation for the long car ride to Fremont. It was a mistake. Made me nauseous + car sickness from sitting in the back. Threw up 6 times. Bright side: multiple breaks to stretch and walk around on my leg

Pod2: Global Mindset
What the Financial Times definition of global mindset is true at some point to the world we live in today. Our world economies todays prosper with trade and knowledge with the help of technology that is so ever growing. Yes, I do agree that the Financial Times definition of global mindset is geared towards commercial or business applications for global corporations. This is because these corporations are, one way helping the world to prosper in terms of economy and infrastructure and they pretty much influence the world’s population with their brand names.
In any part of the world, leadership is about influence. There are many ways to influence others: Directing them, rewarding them, inspiring them, or giving them ownership of the decision are but a few examples. The leader’s task in a multicultural world is to influence direct reports, project teams, supply chain partners, client organizations, and regulatory agencies that have different cultural, political, and institutional backgrounds.
But there’s a disconnect. In most societies, ordinary citizens are socialized to learn how to work with people who are like them. They develop a unicultural lens that helps them understand and interpret their surroundings.
This has worked for many centuries, but it is an obstacle now — children grow up learning how to work with people who are like them; as adults, they start working for companies who require them to work with people who are different from them and who have different cultural lenses.
So what does the leader of the future need to be successful? Leaders who have a high level of Global Mindset are more likely to succeed in working with people from other cultures. Leaders with a strong stock of Global Mindset know about cultures and political and economic systems in other countries and understand how their global industry works. They are passionate about diversity and are willing to push themselves. They are also comfortable with being uncomfortable in uncomfortable environments. They are also better able to build trusting relationship with people who are different from them by showing respect and empathy and by being good listeners.
And I personally believe that everybody in this world has a leader in them whether they know it or not as everybody is given different gifts. If they do know it, they still have the options to choose to be one or not. So I believe it is really up to us to define our future ourselves.
This is how our world works.. Sadly.
Pod2: Knowledge Economy
What is ‘Knowledge Economy’?
Knowledge Economy is a system of consumption and production that is based on intellectual capital - value of a company’s employee knowledge, business training and any propriety information that may provide a competitive advantage. Economy that is based on creating, evaluating and trading knowledge. In a knowledge economy, labour costs become progressively less important and traditional economic concepts such as scarcity of resources and economies of scale cease to apply.
Examples of Knowledge Economy activities are research, technical support and consulting or service-based works.
Basically, The knowledge economy addresses how education and knowledge — generally called "human capital — can serve as a productive asset or a business product since innovative and intellectual services and products can be sold and exported and can yield profits for the individual, the business and the economy. This component of the economy relies greatly on intellectual capabilities instead of natural resources or physical contributions. In the knowledge economy, the production of services and products that are knowledge-based provides rapid acceleration in the technical and scientific fields, making way for more innovation in the economy as a whole. Knowledge Workers vs. Manual Workers
The concept of the knowledge economy was first used by Peter Drucker in his 1966 book "The Effective Executive." In this book, the difference between a knowledge worker and a manual worker was discussed. According to Drucker, the manual worker uses his hands and other physical capabilities to produce and provide services and other goods. On the other hand, a knowledge worker uses his head and produces knowledge, information and ideas that may be beneficial for the overall system of the business or that may be the key source in building the business in the first place.
