Basic summary? Cress/Corn has had feelings for Chili/Pod for a while now, but he's scared of rejection or being laughed at.
This is like my first legit shonen-ai songfic I'm nervous ;; be kind plz-
Warnings? WIncest, Japanese names, a tad nonsensical song accompaniment...I think that's it o.o
I do plan on doing an actual fanfic with these two later...and it'll have the works x.x
Itâs forbidden, according to the laws societyâs laid down. But itâs not like he cared. He couldnât help himself, anyways; it was how he felt, how could he just roll over and allow what others say to change how he feels?
Baby, when weâre touching in the dark,
Can you feel it?
I can hear the pounding of my heartâŠ
Can you feel it?
It was his brother he felt this way to. Why? Why his brother? Why Pod, of all people? The redhead was arrogant, loud, and sometimes rather rude, butâŠHe didnât really seem to care most times. The arrogance gets him looking, the loudness gets him listening, andâŠwell, of course Pod isnât always impolite.
When you take my body to the stars,
I believe it!
Boy, this love is supernaturalâŠ
Can you feel it?
But if there was one thing he couldnât stand about Pod, it was the boyâs frustration and sadness whenever he lost. He always seemed to be the one who lost the most, and many a night, Pod would rave about losing for the umpteenth time. It tore his heart to shreds to have to see or hear it happen. At one point, Pod had run away, tired of losing. And it was his fault, too. The guilt was overwhelming him, to where he broke down when he didnât see the redhead busting through the door, his usual cheery self.
Come, take me by the hand.
Wanna cross the line?
Baby, go ahead,
âTill the morning light,
Watch my silhouette
âCause you know tonight
Weâre gonna wake the dead.
He could never bring himself to voice it to his brother. After all, what would he say? Just be blunt about it or just blurt it out after veering off the subject?
He held his head in his hands, tears threatening to overwhelm him. âWhyâŠ?â he whispered, his voice choked. âWhy must Corn be such a cowardâŠ?â
He wanted to tell him badly, but the fear of being laughed at or outright rejection consumed him more so. A terrible feeling it was that sunk in the minute he finally got the courage to finally ask him, and heâd usually say âNever mindâ, and would resume what he was doing.
Get a little bit wrong,
Get a little bit wild,
Get a little bit high off of this love tonightâŠ
Get a little bit raw,
Come a little undone,
Get a little bit reckless,
I canât get enough!
There were these vivid dreams that often haunted him in his sleepâŠAt times, he found himself praying that they werenât dreams, but rather reality, and that heâd find Pod laying on top of him, sound asleep. There wasnât a day he went by when he awoke, only to be disappointed and not see his brother there. He wasnât sure what felt worse, the guilt he felt when Pod took off, or when he was left alone in his bed.
Baby, when weâre touching in the dark,
Can you feel it?
I can hear the pounding of my heart,
Can you feel it?
âHey, Corn!â
The sudden voice caused the blue-haired male to jump a bit, his head quickly rising in surprise. âHuh??â
âCome on, dude, those orders arenât gonna fill themselves,â Pod told him impatiently, crossing his arms.
âOhâŠRight, sorryâŠâ Corn slowly stood, and walked away from the barstool. Yet another time heâd considered telling him, gone in a mere secondâŠHe was surprised that Pod hadnât noticed him crying. Then again, Pod never usually paid attention to stuff like thatâŠNot when it came to his crybaby of an older brotherâŠ
Pod turned to his brother. âSo, what was eating you earlier?â he asked Corn. The blue-haired Trainer turned to his brother, confused. âYou looked upset, bro. Whatâs happening?â
Corn sighed heavily. He dreaded this moment, it was awkward as hell, and they went through this every time Corn felt the way he did. âItâs nothing, PodâŠâ he lied. âItâs just a daydreamâŠâ
Usually, Pod would say, âWell, if you say soâ, then walk off. But this time, he said sternly, âCorn, youâve been feeling like this for a week now. If you donât tell me whatâs going on, I swear to Arceus, I may have to take drastic measures.â
The tone in Podâs voice shocked Corn; he was never usually like this with him, only when Corn had apparently gotten him angry first.
âWhy would you care, anyways? Isnât Corn simply your crybaby of an older brother?â he shot back. He sounded harsh, and he hadnât intended to.
âThatâs just it! Youâre my brother! Crybaby or not, I still care for you!â He gripped Cornâs shoulders tightly, like the time he did when he claimed he was running away.
Similarly, Corn looked at him in shock, but then turned his gaze downwards. The words actually touched him more than Pod would ever know.
Get a little bit wrong,

Get a little bit high off of this love tonightâŠ

âCorn, are you daydreaming again?â Pod yelled. âSnap out of it!â
Corn heaved another sigh before looking back at Pod. âItâs not as easy to explain as you may thinkâŠâ he answered.
âWhatâre you talking about?â he asked. His grip relaxed just a bit, and Corn slunk away a bit.
âWellâŠYou know how when two people care very much for each other, and canât exactly bring themselves to express itâŠ?â
âSorta, but whatâs your point?â By now, the two were half a foot away from each other, Cornâs hands fidgeting nervously, Podâs arms crossed over his chest. There was an awkward silence before Corn finally was able to muster up the courage to do anything. He slowly approached his brother. Pod looked at him strangely as Corn took his brotherâs hands into his own.
âWell?â Pod asked, casually awaiting a response. Corn sighed, and looked down once again. He couldnât believe what he did next.
Baby, when weâre touching in the dark,
Can you feel it?
I can hear the pounding of my heart,
Can you feel it?
Corn quickly smashed his lips into Podâs own, earning a surprised, muffled yelp from the redhead. Podâs eyes widened in surprise, unable to believe what his brother was doing â Corn was kissing him, the way lovers would do. Why, though? They were brothers; this wasnât what brothers were supposed to do!
When you take my body to the stars,
I believe it!
Boy, this love is supernaturalâŠ
Can you feel it?
The whole moment felt surreal, a daydream that seemed out of place. Pod eventually felt himself cave in, and shut his eyes. He returned the kiss before their contact broke, a thin string of saliva being the only thing that connected their mouths, which Corn quickly dissolved when he covered his mouth in horror, his eyes wide with a matching expression. Pod, still dazed from the initial touch of their lips, blinked in surprise as he tried to gather his surroundings once again. âWhaâŠ?â was the only thing he could muster up as a rebuttal.
Yet another awkward silence before Corn finally cried out, âS-sorry!â
Pod quickly shook his head, trying to break himself from his stupor. âWhat?â
But just as quickly, Corn rushed off. âThatâŠthat shouldnât have happened!â he wailed, his footsteps resonating as he dashed down the halls to his room.
âH-hey, wait! Corn, come back!â Pod dashed after his brother in shock. He was still trying to recall whatâd happened â last he remembered, they were trying to talk about what was wrong with Corn, and thenâŠCorn kissed him? Was that what happened?
Boy, this love isâŠ

By the time heâd gotten to where heâd seen his brother run off to, Pod had already lost sight of him. âCorn, where are you?!â he hollered, Baoppu chiming in with its own call. But there was no response from Corn. Pod sighed, and knocked on the door to Cornâs room. And he could hear his brother in tears yet again. This was the second time that night thatâd happened. Podâs brows furrowed as he and Baoppu cautiously opened the door. What he saw next might have been somewhat beautiful had Corn not been crying.
Corn had his knees drawn up to his chest, securely held in place by his arms. His head buried into his thigh, hiding his pretty face. The moonlight was hitting the man where he seemed almost etherealâŠlike a beautiful, weeping angelâŠ
Pod slowly brought himself over, his Baoppu retreating out the door. âCornâŠ?â the redhead stammered.
Corn quickly looked up at him, his only visible eye bloodshot and puffy. âWhatâŠ?â he asked, a tad harshly.
âIs thatâs whatâs been bugging you so muchâŠ?â
âCorn doesnât understand what you meanâŠâ
âYou kissed me, dudeâŠHow does one not understand that?â
Corn huffed. âWhat, thatâŠ?â was his only answer. âThat was justâŠâ He paused, trying to find the right words, and finding himself unable to.
âA way you wanted to prove it?â Pod finished for him, with a tilt of his head and a grin.
ââŠNot the words Corn would have chosen, but yesâŠâ he answered.
âHeyâŠitâs okay, CornâŠYou shouldnât feel bad about itâŠâ
âPod, weâre brothers! It shouldnât have happened!â Corn exclaimed, finally whipping his head around towards his brother, his brows furrowed.
âSo what if we are? If society deems it wrong, itâs their loss. You may be a crybaby, but youâre my brother.â Pod was unusually calm about thisâŠ
Baby, when weâre touching in the dark,
Can you feel it?
I can hear the pounding of my heartâŠ
Can you feel it?
âWhatâŠwhat are you sayingâŠ?â Corn asked him, slowly turning to face him completely.
Pod set his hand upon Cornâs own, bringing himself closer. âYou may be my brother, butâŠâ
He stared in confusion before it finally hit him, his eyes widening a bit. âWaitâŠYou mean youâŠ?!â
Pod nodded. âI love you, CornâŠâ he answered.
Tears filled Cornâs eyes as he embraced his brother, sobbing gratefully into his shoulder. Pod chuckled as he rubbed Cornâs back. âYouâre such a crybabyâŠâ he whispered, bringing Cornâs face up and kissing his tears away.
Corn suddenly stopped him, looking at him with a smile. âYou missed, sillyâŠ~â he giggled, wiping his eyes.
âHuh?â Pod blinked a bit, wondering just what his brother meant. Corn leaned in again, bringing his lips in gently towards his brotherâs own. Pod had no objections this time, shutting his eyes in anticipation, waiting for the sweet taste of his brotherâs lips.
