One of my latest commissions! This is a pocket world based on the book Mr. Smith and the Roach by author J.J. DiBenedetto. It’s about a retired cop who teams up with a 6’ talking roach on their quest to solve the problem of a missing pension that leads to a deeper, more foul plot. It was really fun to craft different scenes from the book this way, and while I hate roaches… figuring out how to draw a chibi-roach character made me hate them a little less… maybe. My first event of the year was Hawaii Pop Con, a small card-focused event in Hawaii. My husband really likes to watch this youtuber Deep Pocket Monster, his content is fun and family friendly and I found out he was going to be at this event. My husband couldn't come with me, so I drew this pic in the hopes that maybe I'd get to meet DPM and trade this drawing for a selfie. I was nervous I wouldn't get the chance, but he happend to come around near my table and I did it! I grabbed a selfie and gave him this artwork. The end.
