I’ve got a mug of mocha and #pobiz to work on. #365feministselfie https://www.instagram.com/p/BpS9i0PnxRL/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=qooi2kk73bte
I sat down at this table to get one thing done — just one because I am tired — but now many things are done. I feel good, also more tired. #pobiz #365feministselfie https://www.instagram.com/p/BnC9wefF75z/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1uup2ezmg6ylr
“Let me clear my throat..."
Today was Day 1 of writing crap. I wrote in my notebook, as well as in my super secret blog account. That’s always been the toughest part for me after a long hiatus – breaking that hideous blank page with any form of text. I did it. It didn’t kill me. I will show up. I will write crap, and someday my writing muse will show up too and see I am ready to work. I suspect my published books & their subsequent promotion of causing this last drought. I felt a lot of pressure to get a book out, then another, and I even have a third in manuscript form. I had trouble getting off the book track. I want to go back to writing individual poems with no subconscious thought on how they will fit a book theme. I want to go back to deep play in my work. I want to forget about Po-Biz. Recall my innocence (is that even possible?) and write poems because I love to write poems.
You ask if your verses are good. You ask me. You have previously asked others. You send them to journals. You compare them with other poems, and you are troubled when certain editors reject your efforts. Now (as you have permitted me to advise you) I beg you to give all that up. You are looking outwards, and of all things that is what you must now not do. Nobody can advise and help you, nobody. There is only one single means. Go inside yourself.
