âWhy do you have green ectoplasm?âÂ
Tuckerâs question startled Danny. Heâd been lying on his bed, lazily tossing a ball of the stuff around while he waited for his friend to finish modifying the latest version of the Fentonâs household security so that it wouldnât shoot him on sight. It had been an unwelcome surprise when the two of them had walked through the front door earlier that afternoon.
The ball fizzled in Dannyâs hand. He turned onto his side to face Tucker, who was watching him instead of his PDA. âWhat?â
âIt was just a question,â Tucker said. âI mean, most the other ghosts weâve seen have some other color, like pink or blue or something. Youâre one of the only ones who uses green.â
âMom and Dadâs stuff uses green ectoplasm.â
âYeah, but thatâs... artificial,â he replied, waving a hand in the air. âYouâre all-natural.â
Danny scoffed. âYup. Nothing that isnât completely natural about a kid who can become a ghost at will.â
Tucker threw a dirty sock at him, which he easily dodged. âYou know what I mean. But seriously, youâre one of the only ghosts with green ectoplasm.â
âMaybe itâs âcause I got my powers from my parentâs portal?â Danny said, peeling the sock off his bed and throwing it in the general direction of the hamper.
âMaybe,â Tucker said, turning back to his PDA. âI donât know, I just feel like itâs something deeper.â
Tucker frowned in concentration and didnât respond. For a moment, Danny figured he dropped the conversation. After a minute or two, he looked up from his work. âShould be fixed now. Ghost Boy Wonder can walk through his own front door again.â
âYouâre seriously a lifesaver, man,â Danny said, sliding off his bed. âI donât know what Iâd do without you.â
Tucker grinned and took a mini bow. âThank you, thank you. I accept cash and credit, or checks can be made out to yours truly.â
âIâm paying you with my friendship,â Danny said, laughing and slinging an arm around Tuckerâs shoulder.
âWell,â Tucker said, âI also accept food payments.â
âAlright, alright, hint taken.â Danny jumped up and opened his bedroom door, ushering Tucker out.
In the kitchen, Tucker was happily crunching away at a bowl of pretzels, and Danny was searching in the fridge for something that was uncontaminated. He didnât notice Tucker watching him carefully until he emerged with a jar of salsa that looked relatively safe. When he saw his friend staring at him, he said, âWhat now?â
âYou should ask Jazz about color theory,â he mumbled through a mouthful of half-chewed pretzel. âSee if it has any weight or not.â
âColor theory?â It sounded like something Jazz would have come across in her psychology, but heâd never really heard of it.
Tucker swallowed. âYeah, supposedly different colors are supposed to signify different feelings or things or something. I donât know if thatâs true or if itâs just some horoscope-type babble, but maybe that has something to do with why your ectoplasm is green.â
Danny laughed a little as he opened the pantry in search for the corn chips he knew his father was hiding somewhere. âYou still on this?â
âCome on, it could be cool to find out. I mean isnât green supposed to be a âgoodâ color?â
âItâs not exactly a good color when it comes flying out of my hand towards someoneâs face,â Danny hummed.
He couldnât see it, but Tucker rolled his eyes. âIâm serious! Maybe green is supposed to be code for âgood ghostâ or something.â
Danny found the corn chips and plopped down at the table. âIâve met good ghosts that donât use green ectoplasm.â
âIt was just a theory,â Tucker said, throwing a hand in the air. âIt just seems like thereâs gotta be more to it than what meets the eye. Otherwise why would there be multiple colors?â
Danny shrugged. âI know just about as much about ghost stuff as you do. Maybe thereâs no reason at all. Maybe itâs just kind of random. Like I said, maybe itâs because Iâm only half-ghost and got my powers from the portal.â
Tucker pointed a pretzel stick at him. âA-ha! Only half-ghosts have green ectoplasm. Maybe thatâs the connection.â
âBut doesnât Vlad use pink or something?â
Tucker groaned and flopped his head forward. âJust a theory,â he said, voice muffled by the table.â
Laughing, Danny reached over and patted Tuckerâs shoulder. âI promise, if I find out anything about it, youâll be the first to know. Now, am I gonna get my chance to kick your butt in DOOMED or not?â
Tucker raised his head, grinning. âIn your dreams, Ghost Boy.â
The color green is full of balance and harmony. From a color psychology perspective, itâs the color green, that puts heart and emotions in balance, and equals head and heart. The green color is an emotionally positive color, which gives us the ability to love and care for ourselves and others unconditionally.
