Wren snuck back into the Tower the same way she’d snuck out. She wondered if the other girls were using the same entrance, of if they’d found their own methods. She flexed her hand, and pinpricks of blood welled up from the cut, though it otherwise wasn’t bleeding. God, there had been so much blood. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. No, she couldn’t think about this now. She wasn’t allowed to think about this until she won. But she thought about it anyway, about the screaming, about the knives, the fucking blood. She couldn’t fucking cry again. No, this wasn’t a tear rolling down her cheek. She was done with that shit. Go away, go away, go away -Â
Wren bit her arm to muffle her scream when she realized someone else was in the room. Why the hell was any grown up staying up this late when they all had the launch in the morning?
“Sorry,” she said, keeping her voice low. “I’ll just...I’ll just fucking get out of here, sorry.”
