West Midlands Smashes Rest of UK in Export Figures for Q4 2013
The last two b&m firms I worked at were deeply ensconced in Export, especially to EIRE. The latest figures from HMRC confirm that #WestMidlandsTrade continues to lead the growth in UK Export.
Indeed, even as a copywriter freelancing globally, many of my clients reside beyond UK shores.
For the final quarter of 2013, export in the West Mids rose 18.4% on the same period in 2012.
Is history reclaiming its heritage?
There have been dark times, especially during Thatcherite Britain.
However, the recent investment of Jaguar Land-Rover on the outskirts of #Wolverhampton seems to be reviving a trend that started two centuries ago when the Black Country and neighbouring Shropshire provided the very heart beat of the Industrial Revolution.
For those unsure of where the name came from, "The Black Country" is so monikered due to the constant clouds of smoke that resided heavily and permanently over Bradley, Bilston (GKN Sankey) and Tipton (to name a few towns) when the first blast furnaces were established at the dawn of this most innovative of times.
It's great to see the region showing the rest of the UK how to do it again. Even better that Wolves look like extending their lead at the top of League 1 this afternoon. ☺ #WolvesAyWe ?
