sharing my ap gov notes from a few months ago when i was preparing to take my last ap exam ever (what a bittersweet feeling!)
hi everyone, i thought i’d reintroduce myself as i return to this blog after over a year of inactivity! a lot has changed since i left, and even more so since my first introduction post, so hopefully this serves as a fun little update!
about me:
i’m cindy (she/her)
currently 17 but i’ll be 18 in a few months!
infj / scorpio / hufflepuff
self-proclaimed minimalist :)
i love art, design, architecture — anything creative!
academics:
i’ll be a first year university student this upcoming fall!
i’m majoring in graphic communications (essentially graphic design)
classes i’ll be taking this fall quarter: public speaking, introductory physics, introduction to graphic communication, materials for graphic communication, and california constitution/gov!
goals:
stay motivated and organised
study smarter and more efficiently!
hopefully graduate uni early or double major (although i’m not sure in what yet!)
read more classics and books on race, politics, and space
and stay relatively active on here haha
lovely studyblrs that have reinspired me:
@howlsmovingdesk, @eintsein, @lostlxmb, @procrastilate, @mildiners, @stillstudies, and @gloomstudy (please reblog/like if you’re an active studyblr, i’d love to reconnect with this wonderful community again!)
TEN THOUSAND.
over ten thousand of you have decided to press that follow button for this blog. that’s absolutely insane.
i can’t express enough how much my life has changed since starting this blog about 1.5 years ago, as cliché as that is. this is quite a interesting situation though, so i’ll explain:
i opened this app with the idea that this would be my last visit for an indefinite amount of time - i just went through a major mental breakdown, and so i’m stepping off all social media for a bit to regroup. what i wasn’t expecting was to see something i never thought would happen: 10k of you, supporting ploverstudies.
now, i’m not going to be gone forever - i wouldn’t leave you all hanging - but it feels off to just say thank you and disappear. when i return, let’s have a celebration for this milestone! we can reintroduce ourselves to each other, learn a few new things, etc. i’d also like to do something for you guys, so please leave some suggestions!
again, i really do appreciate this, the studyblr community remains one of the best communities i’ve seen on tumblr thus far. hope to see you all soon.
much love,
ploverstudies 💛

got a new notebook for math to replace my old one + been practicing my cursive for bujo headers. hoping today’s a productive one, happy studying! 🍁🍂
a fat reminder
very rarely do you ever find a studyblr or person that doesn’t have their bad days, rough notes, frustrated all-nighters, or days of just doing absolutely nothing, despite what it may seem. not everyone is perfect; not every blog showcases the unglamorous side of studying.
hi there! since i’m self-studying for the sat and i know a lot of you might be as well, here's a short list of some resources that i’ve found to be useful, and some tips of my own!
resources:
sat strategies (useful tips on getting a perfect score) by prepscholar
sat strategies pt.2 by khan academy
official sat practice with khan academy
‘no-study sat tips’ by @study-just-becos
‘100+ sat vocab words’
mcgraw-hill education sat prep book (this is my main resource!)
tips:
• set up a schedule and goal: how much time will you spend each day studying? what score are you aiming for? generally, i find it ideal to study for at least an hour a day.
• start studying early: i’d recommend 3-4 months in advance, depending on how busy you are, to have time to work through the prep book material and to take practice tests. this is also to accommodate for the fact that we do very much have lives and have other responsibilities - if you want to go hardcore, around 2 months might also work (though how effective that might be i'm unsure)
• practice tests: your new best friend in getting that score you want. the more practice tests you take, the more comfortable you get with the way the sat works and what they’re asking for. taking at least 4 practice tests throughout your timeframe is a good place to start, and reviewing what you got wrong specifically can help improve your weaknesses (make sure that these aren’t online tests and that you time yourself, so you can get the closest feel to the the real thing as possible!)
• identify your weaknesses: what are you better at - reading or math? while you should still be studying for both, place a stronger emphasis on your weaker subject and pay closer attention to missed questions so you can review them later.
• don’t stress!: it’s been said over and over, but you won’t help your mental health or your test score by stressing out. i find studying at night is a good way to retain the information from your studying. especially when it comes to test day, and just like any other test, make sure you’re relaxed and clear-minded. remember, it’s not just a one time test - while you should still give it your all, you always can take it again.
i hope these were helpful! if you have any questions or want me to make any more masterposts, feel free to send me an ask!
