so plippy and plonky are johnny’s shoulder angel/devil pair and like how those generally tend to work in cartoons, nobody except for johnny himself and the audience can see/hear them. where it goes a step deeper though is that both of them are completely incomprehensible to the audience and only johnny himself seems to be able to perceive them as actually saying anything coherent. plippy is completely mute (he just flaps his arms up and down) and plonky just shouts out random phrases like he’s the announcer in an arcade game or something. “NICE!” “FREESTYLE!” “SHUFFLE!” “YOU ROCK!” “OH, BABY!” “OUCH!” the way johnny responds to both of them makes it sound like they’re providing him with super profound insight though. it’s like lassie speak i guess
i do kinda love the idea of plippy and plonky being a looney tunes-esque shoulder angel/devil pair to johnny
plonky tells him to do naughty things (not even actually heinous things just naughty and kind of dickish things) and plippy is just fucking useless he doesnt ever even say anything he just flaps his arms up and down
but sometimes johnny looks over to his shoulder and watches plippy flap his little arms around for a minute and then just goes “my god plippy you’re right”

plippy has a little bit of a mischievous streak, a little bit of a rebellious streak, but mostly he’s just adventurous. he would pick a fight with an animal bigger than him because it’d be an adventure. not out of any kind of anger or malice or dislike or anything its to see if he can do it

he might try to wrestle one at first, thinking it’s close enough to his size that he could take one on, but i’m sure they would quickly set aside their differences and find some common ground. maybe theyd go get dinner together afterwards
i used to have a uniform design for the mini-johnnies
and then plippy was just a single drawing that deviated from it and i became very attached to it
but now i think that while i do still love the “default” mini-johnny design, they should be varied in shape, like maybe that original design is still the most common shape they come in but they can come in all kinds of different shapes
