In this world, humans don’t know about borrowers. They live in secret like usual, some alone in peoples homes or the wilderness, some live in indoor or outdoor colonies, but they all still depend on their secrecy and stealth to survive.

Borrowers are also not a single species. They can be essentially mini humans, but borrowers with entirely human features are very unlikely to be born. This is because most borrowers are hybrids of small rodents, a few are hybrids of small animals or reptiles, and even fewer are hybrids of insects or amphibians. Bird hybrid borrowers are about as rare as reptile and small animal hybrids, but rarely choose to live with borrowers that can’t fly, and make colonies almost exclusively for avians.
