"My partner and I are facing an urgent crisis. After escaping an abusive and toxic situation with her family, we scraped together everything we had to get a place together. We sold almost all our valuables just to make it happen. Our roommate needed a place too, so we all moved in together, hoping for a fresh start. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out. Our roommate is extremely uncomfortable with us as a couple and is in crisis and having frequent meltdowns, it is terrifying for us to experience and constantly has us on edge worrying for our safety and wellbeing. A majority of the responsibility for maintaining the household falls on us. We have to clean the broken glass, we are the main ones cleaning the bathroom. We have to handle most of these crises when they arise on our own. It is a situation completely beyond repair. We have no time at all to destress. No time at all to feel safe. Normally, we’d be stuck for the full term of the lease, but the apartment itself is falling apart. The pipes constantly flood the place with toilet water or water mixed with ash from the sink, making it unlivable. We’re always replacing ruined belongings and deep cleaning the floors, trying to keep up with the mess. On top of that, our credit scores are terrible after doing everything we could to secure housing. Now, we’re barely surviving and need to stay near our jobs so we can rebuild our lives. We urgently need moving funds to cover the costs, deposit, and secure a safe place to live. This isn’t just about housing stability, it’s about saving our lives. The stress has put a huge strain on us. I have a neurological disability that makes me prone to seizures, and lately, the stress has caused them to happen almost every other week. My partner is in an ongoing mental health crisis because of all this. Your support would give us a real chance to start over, escape abuse and transphobia, and finally be okay. We’re asking for help so we can move to a safe home, escape toxic and unsafe conditions, and have a fair chance to start over together. Your support would mean the world to us and could truly save our lives."
